Chocolate chip cookies

Are you on the lookout for a recipe for chocolate chip cookies?

Look no further

Some years back a colleague of mine gave me this recipe for chocolate chip cookies. She had returned from the US as an au pair and she brought this recipe with her home from her American family. I have adjusted the recipe more to my liking and hope you will enjoy their crunchiness as well. These cookies are made with brown sugar as most recipes are and if you are looking for triple chocolate cookies just add 3 different kinds of chocolates. See more below.

You can add different kinds of chocolate, or even add chopped nuts. Alternatively you can add your own ingredients and create your own cookies. For this recipe I have used dark chocolate which is by far my favorite. Read more about different types of chocolate on

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Cookies (Approx. 30-40 smaller size cookies)

1 3/8 cup (170 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt
1 stick (4 oz/110 g) of butter, room temperature
¼ cup (45 g) sugar
½ cup (90 g) brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 egg
1 cup (150 g) chocolate, roughly chopped (you can use a mixture of white and dark or maybe three different kinds, just make it 1 cup in total)

Preheat your conventional oven to 375 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Instructions

  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla sugar well into a uniform cookie dough in a stand mixer or bowl.
  • Add the egg and mix it well.
  • Mix in the chocolate and e.g. nuts.
  • Place small balls of cookie dough on a lined baking sheet. The cookies will flatten during baking so space them out evenly. Do not feel tempted to flatten the ball or the cookie will end up way to thin.
  • You can also place the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This should make it easy to form small balls in your hand.
  • Bake your chocolate chip cookies at 375 F (conventional oven) for around 10-15 minutes.

Let your crispy chocolate chip cookies cool completely on a rack. I prefer to store the cookies in a cookie tin lined with parchment paper. They will keep fresh for up 4-5 days. You can also freeze them.
